From December 1, 2025, the scaffolding industry will see significant changes: the Aspiring Assistant Erector will be replaced by the Scaffolding Assistant Erector 2.0. With the new SVWOH industry certificate, everyone can be sure that assistant erectors work safely and professionally.
Why this change?
The upcoming revised Scaffolding Directive will impose new requirements on us. To prepare ourselves as best as possible, the SVWOH is developing a new training and certification for assistant erectors, together with the industry, clients, and training providers. This will lay the foundation for greater safety and quality in the scaffolding industry.
What's on the agenda for the near future?
The development of e-learning, the practical training, and the subsequent exam

Knowledge and practice in balance
The new e-learning and exam for Scaffolding Assistant is being developed by SVWOH in collaboration with training specialist eX:plain. This collaboration allows us to combine theory and practice in a smart and cost-effective way. Candidates begin with an interactive e-learning module. This e-learning is available in 16 languages.
Candidates will then take a theory exam, also available in 16 languages at the exam location. This is followed by practical training, where candidates practice realistic situations under the guidance of experienced instructors from VSB-accredited training providers. The entire program concludes with an SVWOH practical exam.
The unique opportunity of the MDIEU subsidy
The Scaffolding Assistant 2.0 training and exam is made possible in part by the MDIEU subsidy (Customized Sustainable Employability and Early Retirement Scheme) from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment.
Thanks to this subsidy, we can invest in a modern and accessible training program. Online learning is easily combined with practical training, making it accessible to everyone. The goal: to enable assistant mechanics to remain healthy, safe, and vital, and to enjoy their work longer.
The subsidy strengthens not only the position of individual assistant mechanics but also that of the entire sector. It contributes to increased safety, professional competence, and sustainable employability.
